Another 'photo upgrade'! This is possibly a contender for the most common butterfly on the island - certainly it's one we see a lot of round here - and yet it has been a devil to photograph!
Also in the Butterflies and moths (Lepidoptera) section. Robin. I have to be honest and say that I'm not 100% about the ID on this one - butterflies of this genus are tremendously variable and yet all very similar to my untrained eyes!
Photo also in the Butterflies and moths (Lepidoptera) section of the site. Robin. A new dragonfly for the Dragonflies and damselflies (Odonata) section of the site.
I have also re-ordered that section to be approximately phylogenetic, following the convention of most guide books. It is, unfortunately, a bit 'messy' as I'm struggling to confidently ID all the species and some of the photos are rather old and not really good enough to get IDs from anyway! Robin. Another 'photo upgrade' if you like - as I had a photo of one of up these before but it was terrible!
Also in the Butterflies and moths (Lepidoptera) section of the site. Robin. Saw a few of these whilst out for a walk around Balik Pulau this morning. I've only ever seen one before here, and only got an extremely terrible photo! Here is a slightly less extremely terrible photo (just a terrible one). Photo also in the Birds section of the site.
Robin. The resident Long-tailed macaques (Macaca fascicularis) get a bit of a bad rap sometimes. Here is a photo showing their gentler sides, as well as one of a cute baby getting a ride from it's parent. Not so scary now are they? Photos also in the Mammals section.
Robin. I've added another 33 photos to the Birds of Nepal section, still quite a few more to come!
It's been a bit busy at work lately, but I hope to get out and about and spot more local stuff! Robin. A new butterfly spotted today in the Botanical Gardens. Also in the Butterflies and moths (Lepidoptera) section of the site.
Robin. I've added 11 photos to the Birds of Nepal section. Incidentally a number of those are species that I've already photographed extensively in Penang! I have about 45 more to add at some point, once I've had time to ID, edit and upload them!
