Check out the newest issue of Malaysian Naturalist magazine (available in all good bookshops!) - and head to pages 44-45 for an article that I wrote about "collecting" wildlife, featuring this site!
Three of the photos from the site also feature in the article. Robin. Previous image replaced with this slightly better one! Also in the Butterflies and moths (Lepidoptera) section:
Robin. Saw this interesting chap scuttling around just between Monkey Beach and Muka Head. I don't have the means to ID the species, but it looks like some kind of Polydesmid millipede. Photo below and in the Millipedes (Diplopoda) section of the site.
Robin. It may be called 'common', but it's the first one I've seen here! Photo below and in the Butterflies and moths (Lepidoptera) section of the site:
Robin. Had a great day in Taman Negara Pulau Pinang today, trekking from the park headquarters to the Muka Head lighthouse. Spotted loads of new and interesting things - here's one to start things off! Photo below and in the Butterflies and moths (Lepidoptera) section of the site:
Robin. First new bug (in the strict sense of the word) for quite a while. It is also unusual in that I was able to ID it! It is quite distinctive though. Image below and in the Bugs (Hemiptera) section of the site.
Robin. A new one to add to the Dragonflies and damselflies (Odonata) section of the site. I was lucky enough to see a male and female together so photos of both are there (usually ID'ing the females is very tricky as their colouration is often not very distinctive). I still have a lot of work to do ID'ing others in that section.
Robin. Spotted this rather distinctive dragonfly in Balik Pulau. Image below and in the Dragonflies and damselflies (Odonata) section of the site.
