Another older one that I hadn't uploaded. This one was seen at the base of Penang Hill, by the moongate. Also in the Butterflies and moths (Lepidoptera) section.

An older one that I'd obviously forgotten to upload! Now also in the Butterflies and moths (Lepidoptera) section.
Suddenly I can see the difference the new macro lens is making! (this one was taken with my old 55-300mm lens). Robin. Spotted out in Balik Pulau this morning. Also in the Butterflies and moths (Lepidoptera) section.
Robin. One from Taman Negara Pulau Pinang a few days ago. Also in the Butterflies and moths (Lepidoptera) section.
Robin. I had just got back from a bike ride around Balik Pulau this morning and was about to tuck into my breakfast at Botanica CT's Pedal Cafe when this appeared right outside! I had just enough time to get my camera out, change the lens and take a few shots before it disappeared again...
The fabled 'woop woop' bird has become my nemesis of late - often heard around here but a devil to photograph due to its (understandable) habit of hiding within dense foliage. Robin. ...are back in the neighbourhood! Snacking on the local bees, no doubt.
Chestnut-headed Bee-eater (Merops leschenaulti) Robin. We spotted these whilst on the boat back from Teluk Kampi today after an otherwise unsuccessful day in Taman Negara Pulau Pinang. Seeing them was an amazing experience that really made our day! We had about 2 minutes to get the camera out of the bag and try and get a shot before they disappeared again. We didn't see them close enough to get a confident ID, but the boatman seemed confident that they were Irrawaddy dolphins. If so, this is a critically endangered species making us very lucky to see them.
Photo also in the Mammals section. Robin. Not 100% sure about this ID. Spotted by the side of an oil-palm plantation in the Balik Pulau area. Also in the Butterflies and moths (Lepidoptera) section.
Robin. I'm not too sure if these are different species or two individuals from the same species at different stages of development. Anyway, photos below and in the Mantises (Mantodea) section. This will be the first of several updates today - I had a bit of a bumper day out in the local area with the new macro lens! Robin. |
