Karen and I just got back from a long weekend in Fraser's Hill - one of the hill stations in Peninsular Malaysia. It's an area renowned for its diversity of birds and it's consequently a popular destination for birdwatching.
We did see a lot of birds, but I have to say Fraser's Hill should also be on the ecotourism map for a different reason - squirrels! We saw plenty, and one one night walk saw no less than four giant flying ones! Seeing one of them in 'flight' (technically 'gliding') was amazing.
I will upload all of my photos at a later date, but for now here are some of the squirrelly highlights!
Robin.
P.S. We stayed at Stephen's Place (https://www.facebook.com/pages/Stephens-Place/1536048509948644?fref=ts) where Stephen and his family gave us probably the warmest welcome that we have experienced anywhere in Malaysia. I would recommend staying there to any nature lovers looking for a quiet, relaxing and comfortable escape from the madness of modern life. The food was excellent and I learned a great deal about photography from Stephen who is himself a very accomplished wildlife photographer.
